Today, Yuma is one of the most preferred places to live in Arizona, especially by retirees, and attracts most of its visitors during winter thanks to its excellent cool weather. Yuma was also the primary centre for steamboats, which became the prime source of commute for thousands of families that migrated to nearby California gold rush towns at the start of the gold mining history. Located along the south bank of the Colorado River, the town was founded in the 1850s and, later on, was the centre for military, and mining operations.
Yuma is not one of the main cities in Arizona, and it is a shame, given its splendid location and tons of activities with something available for everyone.
